Jennifer (she/her) specializes in treating anxiety disorders, depression,  perinatal mental health disorders, relationship issues, self-esteem issues, and supporting individuals through life transitions. 

 

Through her experience as a clinical therapist and professional school counselor, Jennifer's clients have benefited from her individualized and integrated treatment approaches. Jennifer has been successful in utilizing a combination of CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy), strengths-based therapy, brief solution-focused therapy and other mindfulness-based approaches to address difficult issues. 

 

Jennifer believes in developing a strong therapeutic relationship and working with clients to meet their desired goals while also guiding clients to explore emotions, attitudes, and beliefs that may have hindered them in their past attempts at personal growth. Jennifer works with adolescents and adults ages 16 and older.

Jennifer earned her Master of Science in Counseling from Johns Hopkins University and her Bachelor of Arts from Tulane University.

Laura (she/her) enjoys working with adults who may be experiencing anxiety, depression, relationship issues, self esteem concerns, grief and loss, and anyone seeking greater satisfaction in his/her personal relationships.

Laura has a warm, compassionate nature that she brings to each session. She is a strengths-based, genuine therapist who takes the time to get to know each client for who they are.  Laura believes every client has the potential to experience greater self-awareness, emotional healing, lasting growth, and personal achievement. She builds upon that belief by creating a comfortable place to explore thoughts and behaviors to help individuals work towards reaching their goals.

Laura uses a psychodynamic approach to therapy, including building an awareness of thoughts and feelings, while helping individuals work towards specific and individualized goals.  Laura focuses on building strong relationships with her clients.  Laura works with adults ages 18 and older.

Laura earned her Master of Social Work from University of Maryland, Baltimore and her Bachelor of Science from University of Delaware.

Stacy (she/her) is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor who enjoys working with individuals, families, and groups.  Stacy’s experience includes working in community mental health clinics, substance use programs, and with crisis response and intervention.  Stacy has also provided treatment in a hospital setting.    

 

Stacy uses an integrative approach to establish a therapeutic alliance while treating individuals with ADHD, anxiety, bipolar disorder, depression, and those who have been exposed to traumatic events.  She is trained in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and person centered therapy, and utilizes a variety of techniques (i.e. collaborative, journal, play, art, Gestalt therapies) with her clients.  Stacy's core belief is that a therapeutic alliance, empowerment and talk therapy can motivate individuals to make strides towards improving their quality of life.

 

Stacy earned her Master of Arts in Community Counseling from Argosy University and her Bachelor of Science from the University of Maryland.     

Mandy (she/her) is a Clinical Social Worker who enjoys working with adults, adolescents, and children. She has experience in a variety of treatment settings including elementary education, child welfare, foster care, and healthcare.

 

Mandy has worked with individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, bereavement, and trauma.  Mandy believes in meeting the client where they are by treating each client with empathy and freedom from judgement. She acknowledges that asking for help is not easy and agreeing to come to therapy is a huge first step towards personal healing and growth.

  

Mandy will help clients understand how their thoughts and feelings are connected to their behaviors by use of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. She believes in a strengths-based, person centered approach. She is also a proponent of using Mindfulness and Art in treatment.   

 

Mandy earned her Master of Social Work and Bachelors of Arts from Salisbury University.

Shrina is committed to providing a safe and supportive space for clients to explore their thoughts and feelings and to develop strategies for coping with life's challenges. She is a strong advocate for cultural competency and believes that everyone deserves access to quality mental health care.

 

Shrina has extensive experience working with individuals who are struggling with a variety of mental health issues, including anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship problems. Shrina specializes in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Narrative Therapy.

 

Born and raised in India, Shrina has always been passionate about helping others. After immigrating to the United States, Shrina pursued a career in counseling, earning a Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology, DC campus. Shrina is fluent in English, Gujarati and Hindi languages.

Alyson (she/her) is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker serving clients in both Washington, DC, and Maryland. She has more than ten years of experience working with families, children, and adults across diverse settings.

 

Her areas of focus and experience include ADHD and neurodivergence, anxiety, boundary and relationship challenges, conflicts within the family, depression, grief and loss, life transition adjustments, self-esteem, trauma, women’s issues, workplace challenges, and worry related to navigating life circumstances amid shifting societal tides and economic pressures in a rapidly changing world.

 

Alyson’s sessions are tailored to the individual and may draw upon various therapy modalities and approaches to include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), psychodynamic theory to better understand unconscious behaviors and thought patterns, attachment theory, solution focused therapy and more. With children, Alyson primarily uses play-based therapy approaches.

 

In sessions with Alyson, you can expect a warm and personable approach with sensitivity, empathy, and moments for humor. She begins each new therapeutic partnership with the goal of building a supportive connection in which clients serve as experts on their own lives and any challenges and areas for growth are explored within the context of one’s work and family life, cultural background, value system, and life experiences.

 

Alyson has worked with individuals of all ages and is currently seeing clients both virtually and in-person.

 

Alyson earned her Master of Social Work from The Catholic University of America in Washington, DC, and her Bachelor of Arts from Northeastern University in Boston, MA, and a certificate from the Yale School of Public Health on Climate Change and Health.

Tené is a Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor, Certified Dementia Practitioner, and Certified Aging and Disability Community Resource Specialist. She has over 15 years of experience in Human Services and Behavioral Health serving adolescents, adults, and older adult clients.

 

Originally from the island of Jamaica, Tené brings her island warmth wherever she goes. She has a natural ease at establishing a genuine connection with her clients while on their counseling journey- whether experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, or grief. Her approach is person-centered, strengths-based, and solution-focused, with the goal of providing a safe space for healing and growth.

 

Tené earned her Master’s in Professional Counseling from Liberty University and Bachelor’s in Psychology from Mary Baldwin University. She welcomes the opportunity to embark on this journey with you. 

 

Tené is under the supervision of Jennifer Hilton, LCPC.

Reem specializes in treating anxiety disorders, adjustment disorder, depression, trauma and PTSD, and ADHD.  Reem also specializes in supporting issues related to school, self-esteem, family/relationship dynamics, and life transitions.  ​Through her experience as a clinical therapist and professional school counselor, Reem has honed her expertise in working with children aged 5-18 and their caregivers, as well as young adults.

 

Reem’s inviting and understanding nature creates a therapeutic environment that promotes growth, healing, and positive change.  Embracing a humanistic perspective, she views individuals as whole persons, utilizing a strengths-based framework to help them grow and flourish. Reem’s goal is to empower her clients on their journey of self-actualization, enabling them to reach their full potential and enhance their overall well-being.

 

Central to Reem’s therapeutic practice is the establishment of a safe, warm, and empathetic space. She places a strong emphasis on mindful practices, fostering an atmosphere where clients feel supported and encouraged to explore their emotions and experiences.  Reem has undergone comprehensive training in various therapeutic interventions, including mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and play therapy. Her expertise allows her to adapt her approach to meet the unique needs of each individual she works with.

 

Reem earned her Master of Education in School Counseling along with her Clinical Masters Plus from Loyola University Maryland. Reem earned her Bachelor of Arts from University of Maryland.

 

Reem is under the supervision of Jennifer Hilton, LCPC.

Emily (she/they) believes that each individual is a unique being and that growth is within our reach- each in our own way.  Emily is flexible in her approach, adjusting to meet each client where they are in order to ensure that growth is obtainable and achievable. She utilizes Narrative Therapy, allowing for the creation of a safe space to walk through each person's journey towards discovering how they have found themselves to be in their present state of mind. Utilizing emotionally-focused and somatic therapeutic techniques, therapy sessions will be spent exploring stored feelings within the body as well as thought processes that have been created from this experience.

 

Emily has over four years of experience working with adolescents, young adults, and adults. Her specialties are focused around trauma, suicidal ideation, self harm, depression, anxiety, mood disorders, life changes and transitions, sexuality exploration and identity, as well as gender expression.

 

Emily received her first Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and her second Master’s in Forensic and Legal Psychology at Marymount University in Arlington, Virginia. She is currently in pursuit of certification as a Women's Mental Health Specialist, focused around a holistic healing journey for each client she works with.

Joi is a psychotherapist whose clinical expertise encompasses anxiety management, trauma recovery, relationship dynamics, and supporting underserved populations. Drawing from her unique academic background in criminal justice, sociology, and rehabilitation counseling - with advanced degrees from Boston University, Rutgers University, and the University of the District of Columbia - she brings a multifaceted perspective to her therapeutic practice. 

 

Joi implements evidence-based interventions within a trauma-informed framework, skillfully adapting therapeutic modalities to align with each client's individual needs and goals. Her clinical philosophy emphasizes creating a secure therapeutic alliance where clients can explore complex emotions and develop resilient coping mechanisms. Through her culturally competent and client-centered approach, she facilitates transformative growth experiences while maintaining the highest standards of professional mental healthcare delivery.

Maria is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) in the State of Maryland, and a Certified Dialectical Behavior Therapist (DBT-C). She sees clients individually and aims to work collectively with her clients to treat the whole person - body, mind, and spirit. Maria attempts to help her clients embrace the challenges faced in life, and learn how to overcome them from a holistic perspective. She draws from her interest in yoga and meditation, and emphasizes mindfulness in order to create a well-balanced, purposeful life. Maria helps clients to identify what makes their life fulfilling and full of gratitude.

Maria works with adults in recovery from addiction, those with mood and anxiety disorders, and individuals who have experienced trauma. Maria also enjoys working with new moms, and those who have a history of pregnancy loss. Maria is a client-centered therapist and tailors her approach to each individual.

Maria earned her Master of Arts in Psychology from The American University, and completed her counseling coursework at Loyola University Maryland. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from The College of New Jersey.

Nakia (she/her) is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor who enjoys working with teenagers, young adults, and adults. Nakia has worked in a range of settings including clinical research, community mental health programs, social services programs, and crisis response.

Nakia uses a strengths-based, person-centered approach to therapy to assist individuals dealing with a variety of mental health issues, including depression, anxiety, ADHD, self-esteem challenges, trauma, and life transitions. Nakia is a warm and empathetic clinician who believes in meeting clients where they are, developing a strong therapeutic rapport, and providing a safe space for clients to explore their thoughts and feelings as they work to achieve personal growth.  Nakia is trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and other modalities, utilizing various techniques when working with clients to help them meet their goals.

Nakia earned her Master of Science in Counselor Education at McDaniel College and earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology at Bowie State University.

Lisa (she/her) is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW-C) dedicated to creating a safe, supportive environment for growth and transformation. With 15 years of experience, she specializes in working with adolescents, young adults, and individuals seeking to improve their mental health and well-being. Her background includes work as a school social worker and in a community mental health center, providing her with a diverse set of skills to address a wide range of needs.

 

Lisa takes a client-centered, collaborative approach to therapy, empowering individuals to achieve their personal goals while ensuring their voices are heard, respected, and valued. Her primary areas of focus include helping clients navigate anxiety, depression, grief and loss, ADHD, autism, self-esteem, life transitions, and unhelpful relational patterns. Lisa tailors treatment to each client, integrating various therapeutic modalities based on their needs and preferences. These may include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), mindfulness, psychodynamic frameworks, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Narrative Therapy.


Lisa’s experience as a school social worker also informs her work in helping clients build practical skills such as coping strategies, executive functioning, and social skills. She works with individuals ages 12 and up, both in person and via telehealth. When appropriate, she also provides support to parents or guardians of youth managing anxiety or other mental health challenges.


Lisa earned her Master’s degree in Clinical Social Work from Simmons University in Boston and her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Mount Holyoke College in Western Massachusetts.

​Jenny is a licensed clinical social worker who enjoys working with adult and adolescent individuals navigating challenges related to life transitions, self-esteem, imposter syndrome, career stress, depression, anxiety, grief, artistic identity, ADHD, and trauma. Her therapeutic approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in trauma-informed, depth-oriented care. Jenny has extensive experience working with individuals from all walks of life in both private practice and community agency settings.


She incorporates a variety of psychological frameworks, always honoring the nonlinear and often complex nature of healing. Jenny utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and person-centered therapy. She does not believe in cookie-cutter methods; instead, she sees each client as unique and deserving of a safe space to explore their
inner world. Jenny values the development of a strong therapeutic alliance and a genuine, compassionate connection with her clients. At the core of her work is a deep commitment to providing a supportive environment where individuals can safely explore their thoughts, feelings, and identities.


Jenny earned her master’s degree from the University of Maryland School of Social Work in May 2020 and obtained her LCSW-C in May 2023. She brings eight years of experience using various psychotherapeutic approaches with individuals from diverse backgrounds and communities.

Olivia is a Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor (LGPC) providing trauma-
informed individual counseling. She works with individuals across the lifespan navigating anxiety, depression, life transitions, and relationship challenges.
Olivia's approach is person-centered and grounded in empathy, acceptance, and authenticity. She believes healing begins when we feel truly seen and supported. Olivia meets all clients where they are, offering unconditional positive regard and creating a safe space to explore emotions, build resilience, and reconnect with your authentic self.


Olivia integrates a variety of evidence-based modalities—including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Motivational Interviewing—tailored to fit your unique needs and goals.


Olivia earned her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Rosemont College and brings experience from both inpatient and outpatient settings, including drug and alcohol rehabilitation and community-based mental health care. These experiences have shaped her holistic, compassionate lens on healing and growth.

Olivia is under the supervision of Maria Adamos, LCPC. 

Rachel (she/her) is an experienced LCSW-C therapist having worked in inpatient, in outpatient, and in juvenile detention facilities.  Rachel specializes in treating anxiety, panic disorder, depression, life changes, and ADHD. Her approach to therapy is solution focused: tailoring methodologies to individual clients for the best outcomes. Rachel believes clients are entitled to feeling secure, comfortable, and safe from judgement.

 

Rachel uses Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) tools to help clients develop and maintain change progress. Rachel primarily works with adults, but has experience working with teenagers.  Rachel is a Certified Mindfulness Informed Practitioner and brings empathy, humor, and Diet Coke to sessions.


A Maryland native, Rachel received her Bachelor's degrees in Social Work and Psychology from UMBC and an advanced Master's degree in Social Work from University of Maryland, Baltimore.

Kamayani utilizes an integrative methodology in her therapeutic practice, drawing upon established theoretical frameworks. Her approach encompasses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness Techniques, Trauma-Informed Care, the Stages of Change Theory, and Motivational Interviewing. Additionally, she has recently completed training in EMDR.

Kamayani's background includes substantial expertise in addiction medicine and codependency. She possesses significant experience supporting individuals from diverse backgrounds, and is committed to maintaining a nonjudgmental and inclusive approach in all professional interactions.

Chloe is an aspiring clinician, graduating in December 2025 from Towson University with a degree in Psychology. She plans to pursue a Master’s in Social Work to become a licensed social worker. Her ambitions come from the belief that therapy is a rewarding experience from which everyone can benefit. She is excited to be part of a team that shares her goal of helping people through the practice of therapy.

Services Provided

Individual Therapy

JH Therapy & Wellness provides individual therapy for children, adolescents, and adults.  Sessions are 45-60 minutes long and are focused on each client's specific needs and goals.  Individual therapy is available in person at our Columbia, MD location or virtually to individuals located in Maryland and Washington DC.

Telehealth Sessions

We offer telehealth sessions to clients who are physically located in Maryland or Washington DC at the time of service.  Due to state licensing regulations, we are unable to serve individuals who are not located in these jurisdictions.  

Billing and Insurance

We are in-network providers with Aetna, CareFirst/BCBS, Cigna/Evernorth, United Healthcare and Johns Hopkins EHP.  For all other insurance carriers, we are an out-of-network provider and do not accept insurance, however our services are fully or partially reimbursable by most insurance companies. You will need to contact your insurance company directly for details on their reimbursement process. If you need help with this process, we are happy to assist.

Payment is due at the time of service and we accept cash, check, and credit cards.
